TOWARDS A MORE EQUAL CITY: The need to support Informal Workers for More Equal and Productive Cities in the Global South

Cities cannot become more equal or more economically productive if they exclude the vast majority of their workforce, and especially the working poor.

60% de la population active mondiale travaille dans le secteur informel

Aujourd’hui, à travers le globe, 2 milliards de personnes occupent un emploi dans l’économie informelle ce qui représente près de 60% de la population active mondiale. Ce chiffre est l’un des résultats obtenus par l’Organisation Internationale du Travail (OIT), agence onusienne qui participe à l’élaboration des normes internationales concernant le travail, dans son rapport publié fin avril : « Women and Men in the Informal Economy: A Statistical Picture ».
